All We Need Is Just Another Law!

It’s amazing the logic of some folks, especially whoever wrote today’s editorial in the Star. First, the writer tries to draw some comparison between fleeing slaves on the Underground Railway to a train from Florida pulling into Toronto’s Union Station seeking “emancipation from astronomical prescription drug prices in the United States.”

Then the writer talks about doctors here in Canada apparently doing some unethical and illegal – writing out prescriptions for Americans. So, that means we have a law against doctors doing this, correct? The writer also seems to think that for some reason, the American President should have some care and concern for Canadian doctors who break laws in Canada.

Ummm… ok.

The editorial also reports that these Americans, when they return home, will be smuggling their prescription drugs and breaking another law. So, what’s the writer’s solution to this?

Why, just create another law!

“Surely, Bush or Kerry could get a better deal for Americans if that was their real goal. Let us help them by showing them what the power of the law can do. All the federal government has to do is prohibit Canadian pharmacies from exporting prescription drugs.”

  1. funny how the news don’t report often of Canadians going south to get medical attention due to the long wait times, nothing like fair and balance without bias.

  2. The whole situation was caused by a law in the first place. Drug prices in Canada are kept well below market value because of government fiat.
