A Stormy Dawn

Sun rise at Spiliazeza on October 18, 2022 with big ominous cloud.

I was up early on the morning of Tuesday, October 18, 2022 and was luck enough to capture the view from Spiliazeza, looking out toward Makronisos and Kea. The high winds were blowing across the sea, creating a lot of choppy water. While the big dark ominous looking clouds above gave a sense of perhaps some major downfalls of rain, the break in them that allowed sunlight to shine through in the distance provided a wonderful sight to the eyes, as the sunbeams shone down onto the sea and the island of Kea.

The views here can be tremendous at times, and the camera doesn’t always capture them very well – or perhaps I need to work more on my photography skills. But today, when I was looking at some older photos I had taken, I was fairly pleased with this one. Or perhaps it’s a matter of doing a better job at cropping the photos.

If I recall correctly, despite the dramatic looking dark clouds, there was very little rain that fell and the garden still needed to be watered.

This photo was taken with the Nikon D7000 and 18-105mm lens at 48mm, f-stop f/8.0 and shutter speed of 1/100. One of these days, I may go out and trim the wild olive trees in front of the house so I have less of those in the camera view.
