Deputy Mayor & Athens City Workers Thanked For Cannabis Growing Efforts
In a humorous story that’s been in the Greek news, Athens Deputy Mayor Eugenios Kollatos has been thanked for ensuring marijuana plants were watered each night so that they could grow and contribute to the beautification of Panepistimiou Avenue. I had heard about the story from a radio news report, but couldn’t find anything in English. So I went looking and discovered that a group that calls themselves Κόμβος Ακτιβιστών για μια Φιλελεύθερη Κοινωνία (Activist Node for a Liberal Society) had sent a press release along with photos this past week, describing their gratefulness to city workers.

The “Great Walk” in Athens, Greece was a strange idea by Athens politicians that involved painting a portion of Panepistimiou Avenue’s asphalt along with palm trees and flower boxes at a cost of almost 2 million Euros. The project has been considered a failure and total waste of money by some, but it seems that the “Node For A Liberal Society” decided that planting cannabis seeds in the flower boxes along the street would help to add more beauty.
Of course, city staff unknowingly helped to germinate the seeds and provide an environment for good growth by watering the plants and seeds regularly.

Well, I don’t think they are growing marijuana in the flower pots on the streets of the town I grew up in from 8 years old. Richmond Hill, Ontario is often referred to as “Rose Town” – and cannabis wasn’t a major production back then – except in some indoor cases with hydroponic operations. But they don’t need to secretly plant cannabis seeds – you can actually order it online and get weed delivery the same day! Not quite the same town I used to remember.

Haha Weed Lover – actually, it was Laurel (Bay) Leaf that they chewed along with sniffing some fumes that came out of the ground. Not sure if they smoked cannabis.

Greenie FTW!! Vacationing in Athens (1st time) from California & not being able to bring organic anxiety medication posed a huge problem on day one for a particular person in our group – and still a smaller problem for the rest of us.
